The Yoat Bender II is a result of the dedicated efforts of Yoat Corp's engineers and orthodontists. This revolutionary machine brings a new level of efficiency to orthodontic treatment and dental care. By cutting time and costs, the Bender II is the first ever machine that can bend wire for permanent retainers on-site, making orthodontic treatment more accessible for patients. Take a closer look at the Yoat wire bending machine and transform every appointment into a smoother, faster, and more efficient experience for all!
Steps to Build a Retainer with the bender 2
In just 3 easy steps, you can scan a patient, make a design, and build a fixed retainer with the brand new Yoat Bender II. And the best part is, it only takes 10 MINUTES TOTAL! Listed below are the steps you’ll need to take to get a perfect retainer made faster than ever before!
Scan the Patient
Using an intraoral scanner, scan inside the patient’s mouth to capture 3D images of the distal for both the maxillary and mandibular teeth. This will only take you about 3 minutes per arch. Once this is complete, all you have to do is upload the images into the FixR software to get started!
*FixR software works with most scanners*
Design the Wire
The FixR software has made using 3D images to design a fixed retainer has never been easier or faster, taking only 2 minutes per arch! Once you’ve taken your 3D images of the patient’s teeth, there just a few things left to do:
- Upload Scans: Drag + drop scans into FixR
- Identify Fit: Set plane + height of your design
- Check Fit: Check for any occlusal interferences using top + bottom scans
- Set Retainer Length: Identify the start, midline, and end of the retainer
- Go: Send design to the Yoat Bender 2 to start the bending process
Wire Bending
The last step in the retainer building process only takes 5 minutes per arch! Not only is it fast, but it’s easy, too. This simple process is below!
- 1. Turn It On: Check that the machine is powered on
- 2. Choose + Add Material: Select the type + thickness of material you want to bend, then place in the machine
- 3. Choose Bend: Input desired bend angle on control panel
- 4. Press Start: Hit "Bend, and watch as the machine does the heavy lifting!

AFter the Retainer is Complete
After you have finished bending, remove the material and look over it to make sure that it is your desired shape. If any modifications are needed, repeat the process until you get the right result. Always remember to wear protective gear and follow safety procedures while using the Bender II. And that's it! Just ensure it fits your patient, and send them on their way. No second appointment needed!
RETAINER MATERIALS NEEDED
Wire material
All you really need is the Bender II, the FixR software, and metal wire! However, not only do you need to choose the thickness of your wire, but there is also a wide variety of types of metal you can choose from for your patient's permanent retainer. Some material options include:
- mild steel
- stainless steel
- aluminum
- other metal alloys
The next most important thing you will need is a lubricant or cooling fluid, this will ensure that the machine or retainer does not become damaged during the bending process. Before you start bending, take a moment to double check the machine's recommended materials and specs. It’s better to take precautions because bending the wrong materials or materials that are too thick can cause harm to the machine or result in uneven bends.
